100 numer THE TEACHER!


In mathematics: one hundred is the square of 10; one hundred is the basis of percentages (per cent meaning “per hundred” in Latin), with 100% being the full amount.

In science: the atomic number of fermium is 100; on the Celsius scale, 100 degrees is the boiling temperature of pure water at sea level.

In politics: the United States Senate has 100 Senators; “The First Hundred Days” is an arbitrary benchmark of a President of the United States’ performance at the beginning of his or her term of offi ce.

In money: most of the world’s currencies are divided into 100 subunits; for example, one euro is one hundred cents and one pound sterling is one hundred pence; the U.S. hundred-dollar bill has Benjamin Franklin’s portrait on it; the “Benjamin” is the largest U.S. bill in print.

In other fi elds it is the number of years in a century; in the United Kingdom, 100 is the telephone number for the operator; in Greece, India, Israel and Nepal, 100 is the police telephone number.

However, this 100 is unique. This is the one and only 100th issue of The Teacher magazine. We would like to thank all the readers, authors, publishers and our printing house, without whom The Teacher magazine would not be possible.
